First-Party BHPH Collections Support
TEKS provides first-party collections support for BHPH dealerships with bilingual agents dedicated to one client, working inside the dealer's DMS on the dealer's scripts, from the Monterrey metropolitan area on Central Standard Time. In buy-here-pay-here the dealership is the lender, so collections is the business model rather than a back-office chore: the team works your aging buckets, tracks insurance on financed units and answers customer calls under your name, to Regulation F standards.
TEKS Solutions staffs collections support and insurance verification programs for BHPH dealership operations with bilingual agents dedicated to one client, working under that client's name and inside its systems, from an operations floor in the Monterrey metropolitan area that holds Central Standard Time all year, with contracting and account management through TEKS Solutions LLC in Arlington, Texas.
Who this is for: Owners and finance managers at buy-here-pay-here dealerships carrying their own paper, with active accounts on weekly or biweekly payment schedules.

The pressure
Where the operation strains.
- 01Weekly and biweekly due dates generate contact volume no small office can keep up with
- 02Early-stage accounts age past the window where they would have cured
- 03Insurance lapses on financed units are found after a loss rather than before
- 04Promises to pay are taken but not followed up on the agreed date
- 05Spanish-speaking customers wait for whoever on staff speaks Spanish
The response
How a TEKS team takes it on.
- 01Dedicated collectors working your aging buckets on your cadence and scripts
- 02Insurance verification and lapse chasing on every financed unit
- 03Inbound customer calls about balances, due dates and arrangements
- 04Promise-to-pay tracking with follow-up scheduled on the agreed date
- 05Every attempt, arrangement and outcome documented in your DMS

In depth
What running this program actually involves.
Why BHPH collections is its own discipline
A BHPH customer is, by definition, someone conventional financing declined. The payment is a large share of take-home pay, the term is short, and a missed shift shows up as a missed payment within days rather than months. That makes contact frequency and tone the operating variables — not the sophistication of the model behind the portfolio.
The market keeps feeding that segment. Of the $210.8 billion in auto loans the Federal Reserve Bank of New York records as originated in the second quarter of 2026, 16.1% went to borrowers with credit scores below 620, and the median score on new auto loans fell seven points in the quarter. Those loans land in someone's aging buckets next year.
The relationship matters more here than in a bank portfolio. Your customer is also your next customer, your referral source and your reputation in a market where word travels. A collections conversation that keeps them paying is worth more than a repossession that recovers a depreciating unit.
Where the first thirty days decide the outcome
Across the whole auto market, Experian measured 2.39% of loans 30 days delinquent against 0.90% at 60 days in the second quarter of 2026. Most late accounts either cure or roll forward before day sixty, and what decides which is whether anyone reached the customer in that window.
That is exactly the window a two-person finance office loses when the lot gets busy. A dedicated team does not get pulled to the sales desk, so the 1-to-15-day bucket gets worked every day rather than on the days nobody walked in.
Insurance tracking is a collateral problem before it is a paperwork problem
Every financed unit on your lot is collateral you cannot replace if it is wrecked uninsured. The Insurance Research Council's 2025 study, reported by the Insurance Information Institute, puts 15.4% of U.S. motorists uninsured in 2023. That is a population-wide rate; expect a portfolio of borrowers conventional financing declined to run above it, and size the queue accordingly.
A verification queue that nobody owns is the single most expensive unstaffed job in a BHPH operation. The team confirms coverage at delivery, processes cancellation notices as they arrive, chases new proof within your contact window and escalates anything still uninsured at your deadline — with the record in your DMS either way.
Compliance built into the dialing rules
Whether your in-house or outsourced first-party program is a debt collector under the FDCPA depends on how it is structured and is a question for your counsel; Texas operations also sit under Texas Finance Code chapter 392, which reaches original creditors on its own terms.
Rather than argue the classification, TEKS runs every program to Regulation F's operating standards: no more than seven call attempts per debt in seven consecutive days, no contact before 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m. in the customer's local time, cease requests flagged on receipt, and a clear opt-out in every text and email. Those are configuration decisions, not training slogans — which is why the two complaints the CFPB reports most often about communication tactics, repeated calls and contact after a stop request, cannot happen by accident. They are also the controls to ask any provider to show you before signing.
Getting started
What the first ninety days look like.
Sized to this kind of operation. Each step has an owner on both sides and a written output.
Step 1 · Week 1
Discovery
Portfolio size, aging distribution, DMS, payment channels, script and arrangement authority.
Step 2 · Week 1
Program design
Which bucket the team takes first, the contact cadence per stage, escalation rules and the reporting you want daily.
Step 3 · Week 2
Onboarding
DMS access with the roles you set, scripts in English and Spanish, compliance settings configured in the dialer.
Step 4 · ~2 weeks after onboarding
Go-live on one bucket
We recommend 1-to-30 days past due first. Daily activity review while note quality and cadence settle.
Step 5 · Month 2 onward
Expand
Add later buckets, insurance tracking or inbound customer calls once the first function is proven.

Classification
First-party, under your name.
Whether a specific engagement is classified as first-party servicing or third-party collection under the FDCPA depends on its structure and is determined with your counsel. TEKS runs every program to Regulation F standards regardless of classification.
The operating standards each program is held to are listed on the collections support page.
